Night High School Scholarship Program

A Better Chance Foundation sponsors a 5-year Night High School Scholarship Program with Siena College, Taytay, Rizal, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, Quezon City and St. Dominic Academy in Pulilan, Bulacan.  This program provides an opportunity for financially challenged 6th grade graduates to attain quality secondary education from a private institution like Siena College.

Night High scholars are selected from applicants residing in communities adjacent to Siena College, Taytay, Quezon City, San Jose del Monte, and Pulilan, Bulacan.   Posters are placed throughout the communities inviting drop-outs or potential drop-outs to attend testing at the school.  They must first pass an entrance exam similar to the one given to regular paying students.  Once they pass the entrance exam, they are then interviewed.  After the applicant and their parents are interviewed, a social worker visits their home and community to verify their economic status.  Only after the applicant passes this 3-step process can he/she qualify to be a Night High Scholar.

Night High classes are from 3:30 in the afternoon to 8:30 at night.  Since the total daily hours of study are less than the standard day time class hours, our program is a 5-year course.

Since starting this program at Siena College, Taytay, Rizal in S.Y. 2002-2003, we have had 7 classes from Siena College, Taytay, Quezon City and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, complete the 5-year program, with over 200 Night High School graduates.

It costs P3,000.00 to sponsor one Night High Scholar for one year in Siena College, Taytay, Quezon City and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, and P2,500.00 to sponsor one Night High Scholar for one year at St. Dominc Academy, Pulilan Bulacan.

This amount covers their uniforms and books, tuition fees and miscellaneous expenses such as field trips and laboratory fees.
