ABC Foundation Through the Years

Since 2001, A Better Chance Foundation has been assisting children from low income families with quality education and healthcare through its scholarship and outreach programs.

In SY 2001-2002, ABC Foundation started its Scholarship Program with the Educational Research Development Assistance (ERDA) Foundation by sponsoring 29 pre-school classes, or 1,015 scholars around Metro Manila and other provinces.  The following year, in addition to a new batch of pre-school scholars, ABC Foundation sponsored 22 first grade students under ERDA Foundation.

It was also in 2001 that ABC conducted its Eyeglass Project for the first time, also with the assistance of the ERDA Foundation.  The first 200 pairs of eyeglasses were given to the high school students of ERDA Tech. in Pandacan, Manila.

In S.Y. 2002-2003, ABC Foundation started its partnership with Siena College, Taytay, Rizal by sponsoring 40 scholars under their Night High School Scholarship Program.

In S.Y. 2004-2005 Siena College, Quezon City also partnered with ABC Foundation to start their own Night High School Scholarship Program, and the following year, they were followed by Siena College, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

In S.Y. 2007-2008, the first Night High Class at Siena College, Taytay, Rizal graduated from their 5-year scholarship program, and to help them further, ABC Foundation launched its College Scholarship Program to sponsor bright Night High graduates to any state university/college of their choice.  Every year after S.Y. 2007-2008, we have been attending graduation ceremonies at Siena College, Taytay, and by S.Y. 2009-2010, we had Night High graduates in all 3 Siena College campuses.

In S.Y. 2008-2009, we partnered with the Night High Scholarship Program of St. Dominic Academy in Pulilan, Bulacan, a sister school of Siena College.  This school year, we have 4 Night High classes at St. Dominic Academy, with over 130 scholars.

ABC Foundation has come a long way since its first class of pre-school scholars with ERDA Foundation.  From a little over 1,000 scholars back in 2001, we have now sponsored over 6,000 pre-school scholars.  From the first 40 Night High Scholars at Siena College, Taytay, Rizal, we have now given over 1,000 Night High Scholarships to students from Taytay, Rizal, Quezon City, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan and Pulilan, Bulacan.  We started with 7 College Scholars, and now we are sponsoring 148 College scholars, with the help of very generous individuals and corporations.

The past decade has been remarkable years for ABC Foundation.  We have met some very generous individuals and corporations which have enabled us to help so many students, not just to be able to go to school, but also in improving their health and nutrition.

We have also gotten to know so many bright and extraordinary scholars who serve as our inspiration and motivation to find more donors.  And we have been truly fortunate to have been able to work with so many dedicated groups and individuals who share our goals in helping needy but very deserving boys and girls.

To everyone who has made the past 10 years a success, our heartfelt gratitude goes out to each and every one of you, and we look forward to working with you for the next 10 years and beyond.
