Graduations in S.Y. 2009-2010

The Class of 2010 at Siena College, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

At the end of School Year 2009-2010, 100 of our 5th year Night High School scholars graduated from three Siena College campuses – an all time high for us!

In School Year 2009-2010, along with the graduation ceremonies at Siena College, Taytay, Rizal and Siena College, Quezon City, we also had our first graduation ceremony at Siena College, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan with 22 5th year Night High scholars completing the 5-year program.

45 5th year Night High scholars graduated at Siena College, Taytay, Rizal, March 20, 2010, our 4th commencement ceremony in that campus. Top awardees in the Class of 2010 include Jadizzel Pongyan, Jaxinta Francisco, Eunice de Guzman and Decerie Joy De Leon, who were among the recipients of the ABC College Scholarships for S.Y. 2010-2011.

Jadizzel Pongyan was one of the 2 Night High scholars admitted to the University of the Philippines for S.Y. 2010-2011. Along with fellow Night High alumnus, Kristofer Delas Peñas from the Class of 2009, who is a BS Computer Science major, now on his 2nd year, Jadizzel is studying at the University of the Philippines, Diliman campus majoring in BS Business Economics.

Jaxinta Francisco, also an ABC College Scholar is now a freshman at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, majoring in AB English. Eunice De Guzman and Decerie Joy De Leon are also 1st year college students at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, both majoring in BS Accountancy.

At Siena College, Quezon City, 33 Night High scholars graduated last April 6, 2010, making them our 2nd batch of Night High alumni from Siena College, Quezon City.

Awardees from Siena College, Quezon City were Raniel Madrona, Jimzel Ranga, Michelle Quijano and Aaron Paul Blay, who, aside from receiving academic distinction awards during graduation, were also awarded ABC College Scholarships for 4 years of study at selected government colleges and universities starting S.Y. 2010-2011.

Raniel Madrona, who received numerous awards during graduation, including an Academic Distinction Award, Best in Science and Technology Award, Best in Social Studies Award and the Mother Francisca Award, also has the distinction of being the 2nd Night High scholar to be admitted to the University of the Philippines for S.Y. 2010-2011.

Along with Siena College, Taytay, Night High alumni, Maureen Denice Alfonso from the Class of 2009, who is majoring in BA Social Science, now on her 2nd year, Raniel Madrona is now in his 1st year at the University of the Philippines, Manila campus, majoring in BS Occupational Therapy.

Night High Alumni and ABC College Scholar Jimzel Ranga is now a 1st year college student at the Technological University of the Philippines, majoring in BS Civil Engineering. ABC College Scholars, Michelle Quijano, majoring in BS Applied Math and Aaron Paul Blay, majoring in BS Secondary Education are both 1st year students at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Our first graduation at Siena College, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan consisted of 22 5th years successfully completing the Night High School Scholarship Program. Among the notable graduates were Wilfredo Tugadi, Jr., Nizelle Millare, Gretchen Tubiera, Michael Andrew Banigoos and Rolando Cruz. The top 5 graduates also qualified to receive the ABC College Scholarships starting S.Y. 2010-2011.

Wilfredo Tugadi, Jr. who received First Honors in his class also received awards for being Best in TLE/Computer, Best in Aralin Panlipunan, Best in Filipino, Best in MAPEH, Best in Grammar/Speech and an award for Conduct. Though he qualified as an ABC College scholar, he chose to relinquish the scholarship to one of his classmates, accepting instead a scholarship to study at Siena College, San Jose del Monte.

Second Honors and Best in Physics Award recipient, Nizelle Millare also gave her ABC College scholarship to one of her classmates, opting instead to accept the scholarship offered at the Far Eastern University. She is now a 1st year college student majoring in BS Information Technology.

Third Honors recipient and ABC College scholar, Gretchen Tubiera is now a 1st year college student at the Bulacan State University, majoring in BS Management. ABC College scholars, Michael Andrew Baginoos majoring in BS Computer Engineering, and Rolando Cruz, majoring in AB English, are both college freshmen at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Of the 100 Night High graduates of S.Y. 2009-2010, majority of who are now in their freshmen year in college, 36 were granted ABC College Scholarships, making a total of 69 ABC College Scholars presently studying at different colleges and universities. Besides tuition, scholars are also provided with books and uniforms.
