Opa! A Visit to Cyma Restaurant, Trinoma

On March 12, five Night High School scholars from Siena College, Quezon City were invited by their sponsors to visit their workplace to meet and get to know them.

The 5 Night High scholars were:  Rafael Ian Cabela, Isaac Cordero, Noreen Demo, Bella Fernandez and Christine Joy Manuel, 1st year Night High scholars at Siena College, Quezon City, who are being sponsored by Cyma Greek Taverna at Trinoma Mall, Quezon City.

When Cyma Greek Taverna at the Trinoma Mall celebrated its third year anniversary in 2010, it donated all of its sales and wait staff tips for the day to ABC Foundation.  The donation was able to sponsor 5 Night High School scholars for 5 years, starting S.Y. 2010-2011.

The Managing Partners and staff of Cyma invited their 5 Night High scholars to visit their branch in Trinoma to get to know and spend some time with them.  The 5 Night High scholars were welcomed by everyone at Cyma and were treated to delicious food prepared especially for them.

The 5 Night High scholars introduced themselves to the Cyma staff one by one and asked questions about the restaurant and Greek food.  Afterwards, they were given a special tour of the kitchen by Ms. Tania Olea, where they watched signature dishes being prepared, to be served to them later.

The 5 Night High scholars were overwhelmed by all the new things they saw and learned, and by all the new, delicious flavors they tasted.   Many of the dishes they tried were completely new to them – an assortment of mesedez, or appetizers, Pastisado – Greek Osso Bucco, roasted lamb ribs, and two servings of Skolatina, Cyma’s molten chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream.

And although the 5 Night High scholars couldn’t spell or pronounce the Greek names of most of the food they were served, it didn’t stop them from eating and thoroughly enjoying each and every one of the dishes.

At the end of the day, the 5 very stuffed but very happy scholars were each given a special take-out treat to bring home to their families.

The scholars were very appreciative to their sponsors for the special day prepared for them, and for supporting their Night High School education at Siena College, Quezon City.

We would like to thank Ms. Tania Olea, Ms. Manna Goco, and all the wonderful people at Cyma Restaurant, Trinoma Branch for their generosity and warm hospitality, and for giving their Night High Scholars a unique opportunity to learn and experience new things.  And most especially, we would like to thank Cyma for their generosity in sponsoring these 5 Night High Scholars at Siena College, Quezon City.
