Bosch Night High and College Scholar, Bernadeth Cruz

In 2006, I became a scholar of A Better Chance Foundation, Springboard Foundation and Robert Bosch Inc. and I promised myself that I would not take that for granted and continue to persevere in order for me to reach my goal, to graduate in college and pursue a career in my chosen field.

Entering college was not that easy, especially choosing what course best suited my personality. Being fond of sales and marketing strategies I finally decided to take up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Marketing. The school that I chose to help me achieve my goal was Manila Business College, a school that is not so famous and familiar to many, but a highly renowned educational institution with affiliates in different parts of the world.

I admit that at first, it was hard for me to keep up with college life, plus the fact that my school is located in the busy streets of Manila that experience heavy traffic and flash floods during the rainy season. Getting along with new faces was an issue with me as well. However, as time went by, I was able to establish a circle of friends.

After several months in college, I received a call from Bosch asking me to be an intern. Without thinking twice, I gladly said yes. Being a working student made me more responsible in life. It taught me time management and financial budgeting. There were times when I felt like giving up, but when I thought of my aspirations in life and the experiences that I can get from being a working student, it inspired me more and made me enthusiastic to pursue my studies and internship.

Last June 24, 2014 I graduated from college; it was the day I have been waiting for. The day was full of happiness and excitement. Being one of the awardees as Cum Laude was extremely overwhelming. This honor will be dedicated to all the people who have been part of my treasured journey. I would like to extend my appreciation to God, to my family and to my beloved sponsors, A Better Chance Foundation, Springboard Foundation, and Robert Bosch, Inc.
