For the past three years, ABC Foundation, along with Springboard Foundation, and Q2 Search, would go to Siena College, Taytay, Rizal, to visit their 6 Night High Scholars, just before the holidays. Every year, Q2 and Springboard would bring gifts for the scholars, and every year, the 6 Night High Scholars would surprise their sponsors with special performances, and gifts.
On December 9, we brought Ms. Sarah McLeod, Ms. Monina Nuñez, and a few members of Q2 Search, along with Ms. Annette Helbig and Ms. Gina Tuazon, of Springboard Foundation, to Siena Taytay, for our annual visit.
This year, the Q2 Scholars, now in their 4th year of Night High School, prepared a special program for their sponsors. They opened with a short video giving us a glimpse of their typical day in school. After the video presentation, Night High Scholar, Camille Barbosa gave a special message thanking Q2 for their support, and reminiscing about the past 3 years they have been together.
After Camille’s short speech, the 6 Night High Scholars sang a group song, and presented Q2 and Springboard with thank you letters and tokens of appreciation.
Ms. Annette Helbig of Springboard Foundation, and Ms. Sarah McLeod of Q2 were very touched by the gifts they received – a box filled with tiny paper stars, each one hand made by the 6 Night High scholars.
During the program, Springboard Foundation and Q2 surprised their scholars by performing a special Christmas musical number – with Ms. Gina Tuazon and her daughter on violins, and Ms. Annette Helbig and Ms. Sarah McLeod on the flute. The members of Q2 also joined in in singing Christmas carols.
Every year, before visiting their scholars, the employees of Q2 would hold a contest to collect the most gift items for their scholars. The group with the most, or heaviest, collection of items gets to visit the Siena College, Taytay, to give their gifts to their Night High Scholars.
This year, the winning group brought 6 huge balikbayan boxes, one for each scholar, filled with clothes, food items, and school supplies, for the scholars to share with their families.
