February 2010, very special friends and sponsors visited A Better Chance Foundation and their Night High scholars all the way from California, USA. Bob and Beverly Sellar, long-time friend of Chairman Lew Edwards and generous sponsors of ABC Foundation flew in from Pleasanton, California for 2 weeks to visit their scholars, attend different ABC activities, as well as to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Philippines.
Bob and Beverly Sellar have been very generous sponsors of ABC Foundation since School Year 2005-2006, when they started sponsoring 8 Night High scholars from Siena College, Quezon City. Shortly after that, they sponsored a daily feeding program at St. Dominic Academy in Pulilan, Bulacan and have since fed over 150 Night High scholars. They have been sponsoring this daily feeding program since School Year 2008-2009 and will continue the program for School Year 2010-2011.
During their visit to the Philippines, we visited St. Dominic, Pulilan, Bulacan to meet the Night High scholars who benefit from this feeding program. The scholars of St. Dominic welcomed them by preparing special song and dance numbers, which were designed to show the Sellars a little big of traditional Filipino culture.
The Sellars also got to meet and spend some time with their 8 Night High scholars at Siena College, Quezon City, now in their 5th and final year of Night High School. The Sellars interviewed their 8 scholars with the intention of sponsoring one scholar throughout college. Apart from meeting their 8 Night High Scholars, they also attended a special program which showcased the talents of all the Night High School scholars of Siena College, Quezon City.
Bob and Beverly were also part of ABC’s 2nd Night High School Scholars’ Assembly held at Siena College, Taytay, where they assisted in giving out medals to the quiz bee winners and were awarded certificates of appreciation from both ABC Foundation and St. Dominic Academy.
It was a fun-filled week for us at ABC Foundation, showing the Sellars the many people whose lives they have changed through their kindness and generosity.
