We are always amazed at the generosity of the people who come to ABC Foundation with a unique proposition to sponsor our scholars. Earlier this year, we met Ms. Joy Cruz of Break Free Entertainment Productions and owner of The Old Spaghetti House at the UP-Ayala Technohub. After receiving our coin bank at her store in January, 2010, she called our office to inquire about how she can sponsor an ABC scholar.
Being the start of the new year, she saw the arrival of our coin bank to her store as an opportunity to create a project to help those in need. Through her company, Break Free Entertainment Productions, Ms. Joy Cruz has volunteered to arrange fundraising concerts showcasing her singing talents to sponsor 1 pre-school class for School Year 2010-2011.
The first fundraising concert was held February 12, 2010 at Toyz at the Strip in Fort Bonifacio. Arranged by Break Free Entertainment Productions, Ms. Joy and her musician friends sang to a full house of friends, family and supporters. The theme of the show was “If I Were a Boy,” wherein Ms. Joy serenaded the audience with songs originally performed by male artists.
Weeks before the concert, Ms. Joy, along with her friends and members of Break Free Entertainment Productions, Ms. Odette Bernardo, Ms. Charlene Gonzaga and Mr. Ryan Dela Cruz visited our pre-school scholars at Bagong Silangan, Quezon City. Ms. Joy and her friends brought spaghetti, burgers and drinks for the pre-school scholars as well as gift bags full of school supplies. After eating, the group played games and awarded prizes to the scholars then sang some songs together.
For School Year 2010-2011, Break Free Entertainment Productions will be sponsoring their own pre-school class of 25 boys and girls at Bagong Silangan, Quezon City with the funds they will raise from the series of concerts put on by Ms. Joy Cruz.
