March 19, 2011 marked the end of high school life for 42 Night High School scholars from Siena College Taytay, Rizal. The 42 Night High scholars, sponsored throughout their 5 years by Robert Bosch, Inc., had their Graduation Ceremony at 2:30 in the afternoon at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Chapel. Honorable guests, sponsors, administrators, teachers, faculty, staff, and parents were invited to attend the 6th Commencement Exercises of the Night High School Scholarship Program at Siena College, Taytay, Rizal.
The Graduation Ceremony of the Night High scholars was divided into two parts; a Eucharistic Celebration, followed by the Commencement Exercises. Hannah U. Condevillamar, an academic awardee, started the Commencement Program by welcoming everyone to the event, followed by Sr. Susana A. Bravante, O.P., Basic Education Department Principal, who presented the 5th year Night High scholars as Candidates for Graduation to Mo. Teresa E. Examen, O.P., President of Siena College, Taytay. Mo. Teresa Examen, O.P., confirmed the 42 scholars as graduates of Academic Year 2010-2011.
The confirmation of new graduates was followed by the distribution of diplomas and conferring of awards to outstanding students. Night High scholars Rolan Candelario and Hannah Condevillamar were given Academic Awards for their outstanding academic achievements. A Leadership Award was given to scholar Alexis Balansag, and Service Awards were given again to Alexis Balansag and Rolan Candelario. Other awards given were Siena Achiever Awards to scholars Carlos Wilson Oblea and John Paul Obiar for their outstanding achievement in sports, and a Deportment Award given to Rolan Candelario.
After the awards and diplomas were given to the scholars, inspirational messages were given by ABC Foundation Chairman, Mr. Lewis A. Edwards and ABC Foundation Vice-President, Dr. Bayani delos Santos. It was then followed by the Graduates’ Loyalty Pledge to their Alma Mater led by scholar Alexis Balansag. After the pledge, Rolan C. Candelrio, an academic awardee, delivered his words of gratitude to his sponsors, parents and classmate; and his speech was followed by a parent’s response to the graduates, delivered by his mother, Mrs. Severina Candelario.
The program ended with closing remarks from by Mo. Teresa E. Examen, O.P., followed by the graduates signing their Graduation Song, The Roads of Our Life, their Farewell Song, Lean on Me, and the Siena Hymn.
For the scholars, graduation is not an end, but the beginning of bigger challenges to come. Surely they will continue to soar and to someday make a big difference in the World. And though they become ex-classmates, they will stay friends forever.
