Night High with Siena College of Taytay was the first major project of A Better Chance Foundation in 2002. We had 30 Scholars and it was a success from the beginning. The school had a good method of attracting poor students from the area to apply for scholarship. Parents and student applicants were interviewed, applicants took the same entrance exam as paying students. Those who passed were interviewed again before being admitted as a Scholar.
Today we have Night Jr. High and Night Senior High as the result of the Dept. of Education adding on grades 11 and 12 in the past 2 years. In March/April we’ll have our first batches of Night High Scholars who have finished Grade 12. They are the first ever and consider themselves a historic group. These graduates will be among our candidates for College/University Scholars.
In June we start the next School Year for Jr. and Sr. Night High Scholars. We’ll have programs in 7 schools. Six of them will be in Dominican Order Catholic Schools and one class will be De la Salle College, Antipolo City.
A scholars tuition this coming school year (2018/2019) will be P 5,000 or US $100. The currency rate of exchange is subject to change but as I write it is around P 50 to US $ 1.00.
In the past our Partner Donors have been individuals, corporations and other foundations. Donors come from the USA, Australia but the majority of our donors are from The Philippines.
We encourage all past Partner Donors to continue with your sponsorship of Night Jr. and Sr. High Scholars. And why not tell your friends about the great opportunity to help a poor child get a first rate education and go on to work their way out of poverty.
