The goal of A Better Chance Foundation is to have 100 new College Scholars next School Year 2018-2019; We have early pledges from past donors for 25 already, 75 to go!
College/University scholarships have changed with the introduction of Philippine government funding for tuition beginning this current school year for students at all government schools. It is progress and a blessing.
This same tuition funding has been promised for next school year also. So, it changes what we do to assist poor scholars. We now provide what we call a TUITION SUPPLEMENT to college scholars of ours, who are most often, graduates from our Night High programs. The supplement is intended to pay for ‘miscellaneous fees’ imposed on students in addition to tuition and for books and uniforms. We believe this new form of support, a supplement, is necessary because of the low family income of our scholars. The students are all poor but bright and ambitious to be a college student and eventually a graduate. Their typical goal is to eventually help their family out of poverty.
Here is how our tuition supplement program works at 3 different levels of support for our college scholars starting School Year 2018-2019 with classes beginning in most schools in June 2018.
Basic Tuition Supplement will remain at P 10,000/$200 and it is intended to cover costs of miscellaneous fees, books, uniforms. We will call it Option A.
Option B of the Tuition Supplement will be for P20,000 /$400 and it will cover all items in Option A plus money for a daily meal at school as long as it lasts.
Option C of the tuition Supplement will be P 30,000/$600 covering all items of Options A and B plus it will cover transportation costs to and from school for as long as it lasts.
We have opportunities for Partner Donors to sponsor College Scholars and ask you to join us in our efforts to keep poor, bright young men and women in College/University. Please pass our sponsorship news on to friends. Thank you.
