Congratulations, Carmina!

Carmina Barbosa belonged to the Night High Class of 2009 at Siena College, Taytay, Rizal.  After Night High School, she decided to apply to Miriam College, to major in Accounting. She graduated in March 2014.  She has informed us in her heart-warming letter that she is  currently employed at Deloitte Philippines, a prestigious accounting firm.

Thank you, Carmina, for keeping us updated on your achievements.  We are so proud of you!  Keep up the good work!

Here’s her story….

Carmina Barbosa

After I graduated in Siena College Taytay, I applied in different colleges and universities and luckily I am accepted in Miriam College, Quezon City as a scholar also. I took BS Accountancy there. BS Accountancy is a 5 year course in that institution. During that 5 years time, I’ve experience a lot and because of that I’ve learned a lot not only in the side of academe but also how to be a role model to every student in that institution.

I’ve been an officer for almost 4 years of my stay there and I’ve joined many organizations. I’ve been awarded many awards like leadership meritorious awardee for 4 years, one of the top outstanding scholars and more. Despite all the trials I’ve been through, I pushed myself harder every time for me to be able to finish my college and eventually after 5 years, I graduated in Miriam College with a degree in BS Accountacy on March 2014. I wanted to graduate because I wanted my parents to be proud.

After college, I took a review course in CPA Review school of the Philippines (CPAR) to refresh my knowledge and to be more equipped for the October CPA Licensure exam. Unfortunately I’ve been given a mark of conditional last October 2014, meaning I need to take 3 subjects again in May 2015. By the way, I took 7 subjects last October 2014. So after that October exam I enrolled again in CPAR.

So last May this year, I took the Boards again and luckily I passed. It was such a relief. After knowing the results, I saw my mother crying because of the joy she felt. Honestly speaking, I’ve never seen her and also my father like that before. I realized that moment that if passing the Boards makes me happy then what more will be the effect to my parents? I cried because it was just a fulfilment and sweet victory.

After all the hardships I’ve been through, God really knows how to reward me. He knows how badly I wanted to pass that exam. And yes, after some time, He let me have those 3 letters that I’ve been dreaming of-CPA. After passing the Boards I swore to myself that it would be payback time to my parents. I applied for top 3 auditing firms (SGV, Deloitte Navarro Amper and KPMG) and luckily I’ve got job offers also from those auditing firms. Last 4th day of June, I’ve signed the job offer coming from Deloitte since that is my dream firm. I never imagined having accomplished some of my goals would be this fulfilling.

All these achievements would not be possible if it wasn’t for you. You were the first one to believe in me and my capabilities. With all my heart I wanted to say thank you and I hope you will still inspire more people to achieve their goals. Words can’t express how much I am thankful to you. This message may be simple but as of know this is what I can do. Thank you s much for everything!

To God be the glory! God bless you always and forever.

PS. I am a sister of Camille Anne C. Barbosa. She is currently still under your scholarship. She is in college now taking up Business Administration and Accountancy at The University of the Philippines, Diliman. We’re very, very much lucky to have you supporting us. Again, thank you and may God bless you always!
