Dear Friends,
Last Sept. 29, for example, Macquarie had 30 of their college scholars visit their Makati City office for an afternoon of mentoring and bonding. Macquarie, Philippines now employs 1,700 staff members in their Makati location and dozens of their staff members are active with their many (CSR) corporate social responsibility programs.
Polytechnic University of the Philippines (P.U.P.) has become increasingly important to us as a source of qualified scholars and we formalized that status with 6 officials of PUP who visited our ABC Foundation office last Oct. 4. Together we signed a formal Memorandum of Agreement regarding the scholars we will support this school year. We further made a verbal commitment to Dr. Zenaida R, Sarmiento, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, that School Year 2019/2020 we commit to sponsoring 120 new first year college scholars. We reiterated our simple requirements that students for scholarship consideration be poor and smart and motivated to succeed.
Polytechnic University of the Philippines is a growing, major institute with 43,427 students on 22 campuses. They have 1,172 faculty and staff members and 46 international students.
What about Oxford in the subject column above? It is my great pleasure to let you know that our former scholar, Night High and university undergrad, Kristofer de las Peñas arrived in London, Sunday, Oct. 7 and on Monday the 8th he was in class at Oxford University as a PhD scholar in the field of Bio Medical Imaging. Kristof s father is a day laborer and his mother is a housewife. For the past 3 years Kristofer has taught computer science at University of The Philippines, Diliman campus. He is from Taytay, Rizal.
Good wishes,
